The Embroideries from Putna Monastery (15th–16th Centuries). Characteristics and Comparisons

Abstract

The article discusses some pieces of embroidery and brocades from the patrimony of Putna Monastery. The author analyses the style and technique characteristics of the discussed embroideries and proposes a classification. The relatively high resemblance suggests the pieces belong to the same school, which evolved in time. Identifying a style could lead to identifying pieces from other territories in the future, made at the same time with those of Putna Monastery.
