A Novel Manuscript by Scribe Prochorus Dating from the Beginning of the 17th Century

Abstract

The article presents an unknown autograph of the Moldavian scribe Prochorus, from the Menaion for November, a manuscript dating from 1608 and presently kept at the Scientific Library of the Moscow State University (no. 487). Only three manuscripts by this calligrapher were previously known, all of them dating from 1606 and dedicated to Sucevița Monastery: Matei Vlastares’ Syntagma, now kept in the collections of the “Andrey Sheptytsky” National Museum in Lviv, as well as the Triodion and the Menaion for December, which are kept in the collections of Sucevița Monastery.
