New Sources about the Export of Cereals of the Romanian Principalities in the 15th Century

Abstract

Whether cereals were or were not an important article of export from the Romanian Principalities represents a subject of actuality for Romanian historiography. The discovery of seven documents referring probably to the export of cereals from Moldavia, five of them being the most ancient discovered until now, and one being the second document on this subject during the reign of Stephen the Great, allows us to take position in this debate. The export of cereals from the Romanian Principalities was not an exception, but a rule, and, in the 15th century, one of the destination countries for these exports was Genoese Crimea.
