Abstract
The 1871 Putna Festivity was mostly due to Abbot Arcadie Ciupercovici’s efforts. From his installation in 1866, he yearly celebrated the memory of Stephen the Great. The present paper refers to some biographical and personal data regarding the venerable ecclesiastical figure, as revealed in the press of the time by those who came to know him. It also presents information on the hidden supporter of the 1871 festivity (and later “patron” of the abbot): Consistorial Councilor Samuil Morariu-Andrievici.
