Abstract
The oldest extant inscription (1463) from Stephen the Great is the one from the crown that adorns the skull of Saint Simeon of Wonderful Mountain, which the prince donated to the Neamț Monastery.
The paper explains why the historians considered this treasure to be missing starting with the half of the 20th century and how it was "rediscovered” in the year 2006 at the place where its donor meant it to be.
The author provides a detailed description of the crown and proposes an explanation for the piety Stephen the Great showed for the relics of this saint.
