The Annals of Putna is the only scientific journal which focuses on the era of Stephen the Great and on the history of the Putna Monastery.

Like the Stephen the Great Research and Documentation Centre, the journal appeared out of the necessity to stimulate and focus historians’ efforts on these two main directions of research. Its scientific scope was subsequently enlarged to include the history of other monasteries in Bukovina.
